Shadowfax Racing is a volunteer-based charity and as such, we depend on the generous financial and in-kind donations of various people and organisations,
Shadowfax Racing spends the money we raise on funding sailing programmes for young people who otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity to experience sailing.
In previous (pre-Covid) years, funds raised have been used to run our own programmes, including providing transport and food for trainees attending, race entry fees, and keeping all the boats and kit up to scratch. In particular all the boats involved in the program had to be fully coded every three years.
From 2023 we moved to a new delivery model for the programme in order to make the charity more cost-effective and practical and to enable as many young people as possible to experience being on the water for the first time, giving them a chance to grow through competitive sailing. Starting in 2023, funds raised go entirely towards funding student places on hand-picked external sailing activities through partner trusts.
We fundraise through a combination of private donations, events and grants.

Thank you to the following individuals for their significant donations:
Dave Rolfe, founder and original owner of Shadowfax. Dave got us off the ground in 2014, and supported the charity with funding of the upkeep of Shadowfax, one of the boats we used to run our own programmes.
Greg Nasmyth, a fellow sailor and racer has generously supported Shadowfax racing in 2017 securing the charities funding for our 2018 programs and beyond.
Arrowgrass: For donating the funds which enabled Shadowfax Racing to buy its own set of matching team kit! This has, and will continue to keep our trainees warm and dry, through the best of the British weather.
