Learning to sail
Shadowfax Racing works with nominated schools, associations and sailing clubs. We work with a sponsor from each organisation to select the students that will benefit most from the programme.
We aim to help participants to go from from complete novice to a competent basic sailor with a working knowledge of all positions on a boat and some experiencing of yacht racing. Sailing is great fun and also helps to improve self-confidence, educational achievement and develop communication, teamwork and decision making skills that are required in the workplace.

2024 Programme
We are working towards running a programme in 2024, partnering with Tottenham LAE and TallShips, who will act as our delivery partner. In a revised model that we've moved to post Covid as a way to get the charity up and running again, we're hoping to provide funding and support to enable 20 students from Tottenham LAE to get their first experience of sailing on a 3 day TallShips programme on the South Coast.
This model was very successful in 2023 when we provided funding for 17 students from Tottenham LAE to experience a life-changing 6 day sailing adventure with TallShips, including a race, a night at anchor and the opportunity to gain their Competent Crew certification. See our latest newsletter for more info.
