Giving young people a chance to grow through competitive sailing
Shadowfax Racing, established in 2014, is a unique sailing charity giving young people, who wouldn’t otherwise get the chance, the opportunity to become part of a competitive sailing team. .
Sailing is a dynamic team sport, providing a challenging and exciting learning environment. Trainees will learn not only how to sail and race, but will also develop the social and communication skills needed to be part of a strong team. It enables them to demonstrate that they have commitment, drive and resilience and gives them confidence to try new things, meet new people and hopefully learn a love of sailing. We aim for the sailing programme to be a catalyst for change in people’s lives and to be a stepping-stone towards a better future. Read more in our About Us section.

2024 Sailing ProgrammeHaving been forced to put our programmes on hold during the Covid lockdowns, were were back in 2023, albeit with a slightly different format, which we hope to be able to run again for 2024.
We are aiming to run a 2024 programme with one of our key partner schools in Tottenham, North London. As per our revised 2023 model, we plan to work with the school and students to fund 2 boats of 10 students each to enable them to take part in a 3 day TallShips sail training programme. |

Previous Programmes
Pre-Covid the charity ran our own Shadowfax Racing sail and race training programmes, using 3 Sigma 33's down on the South Coast. Over 4 or 5 weekends we would teach the trainees basic boat handing skills and on the final day the trainees would enter into a public race against other boats of the same kind as well as smaller and larger yachts. Watch the video and see the excitement of Race Day!
Volunteer with usDoes Shadowfax Racing charity inspire you? As we work to ensure we can continue to inspire young people who wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to sail and race, we are looking for volunteers to help us shape and build the charity going forward.

What others say ...“I would definitely recommend Shadowfax Racing to other schools and students... I thought the project was fantastic for the students of our school and me personally. I never realised how much fun sailing is!”
